Lighthouse Lanes Oswego Squirts Start Hockey Season Strong

The Lighthouse Lanes Squirt hockey team from the Oswego Minor Hockey Association has started their 2018-19 season strong with a record of 6-1-1 in their Snowbelt League Red Division and new Thruway Series games.

The Thruway Series combines the Empire Amateur Hockey Conference in Greater Rochester with the Snowbelt Hockey League for an inter-conference Thruway Series and Cup competition.

Lighthouse Lanes Squirts 8 Fulton 0
Lighthouse Lanes kicked off their season with a strong 8-0 non-league win at Fulton. The Oswego Squirts were led by Jason Bartlett (2 goals, 4 assists), Grady Shanly (3 goals), and Owen Baldwin, Adam Greene, Owen Bartlett and Dylan Crannell each registering a goal.

Oswego goalie Jameson Stepien led the defensive efforts with 15 saves and the shutout win. Others contributing strong performances in the opening season win were Mikey Conzone, Isaac Michalski, Thomas Rolfe, Jacob Barrett, and Gavin Guynn.

Lighthouse Lanes Squirts 8 Webster 1
In their Thruway Series opener, Lighthouse Lanes easily handled Webster at Crisafulli Rink 8-1 behind the strong scoring of Baldwin (3 goals, 2 assists) and Shanly (3 goals, 1 assist). Also contributing to the scoring were Jason Bartlett (1 goal, 3 assists), Greene (1 goal) and Conzone (1 assist). Stepien had 13 saves in the Oswego net.

Lighthouse Lanes 3 Monroe 3
The second game of the Thruway Series saw Lighthouse Lanes travel to Lakeshore Arena in Rochester to play Monroe and skated to a 3-3 tie.  The energy packed, back and forth game was highlighted by 21 saves by Stepien in the net, and the offensive attack of Shanly (2 goals), Baldwin (1 goal), and Jason Bartlett (2 assists).

Lighthouse Lanes 8 Geneva 1
Oswego jumped out early on Geneva in their Snowbelt League season opener and never looked back winning 8-1.
Leading the way were Shanly (2 goals, 1 assist), Jason Bartlett (1 goal, 3 assists), Greene (1 goal, 2 assists), Baldwin (2 goals), Conzone (1 goal, 1 assist), Barrett (1 assist), and Owen Bartlett (1 assist).
The strong Oswego defense led by Barrett, Michalski, Rolfe, Guynn and Crannell helped secure the win. Stepien had 7 saves in net for Oswego.

Watertown 8 Lighthouse Lanes 3
Snowbelt League leading Watertown scored 7 unanswered goals, after an early 2-1 Oswego lead, to win this league matchup 8-3 and hand the Lighthouse Lanes Squirts their first loss of the season.
Stepien had 16 saves in net and the offense was led by Jason Bartlett (1 goal, 2 assists), Shanly (1 goal, 1 assist), Baldwin (1 goal), Crannell (1 assist) and Guynn (1 assist.

Lighthouse Lanes 7 Geneva 0
After losing to Watertown earlier in the day, Lighthouse Lanes got back on track with a 7-0 win over visiting Geneva in the afternoon Snowbelt matchup.
Strong defense led the way again with Barrett, Michalski, Crannell, Guynn, and Rolfe all contributing. Stepien had minimal work with 6 saves in the shutout win.
Leading the offense were Jacob Barrett (4 goals, 1 assist), Owen Bartlett (2 goals, 3 assists), Rolfe (1 goal), and Guynn, Jason Bartlett and Greene each with 1 assist.

Lighthouse Lanes 8 Valley 3
The Oswego Lighthouse Lanes team travelled to Valley in this Snowbelt game at Meachem Rink and found their offense early, and winning 8-3.
Shanly exploded for five goals, while Baldwin (1 goal, 2 assists), Greene (1 goal, 1 assist), Jason Bartlett (2 assists) and Owen Bartlett (1 assist) each added to the offensive scoring.

Oswego netminder Stepien had 12 saves in the win.

Lighthouse Lanes 8 New Hartford 0
Lighthouse Lanes Oswego Squirts easily defeated New Hartford in their Snowbelt league game, 7-0, at Crisafulli Rink.
Oswego goalie Stepien registered his third shutout of the season and recorded 6 saves in the matchup.
Scoring for Oswego were Shanly (3 goals, 1 assist), Jason Bartlett (1 goal, 3 assists), Owen Bartlett (1 goal, 2 assists), Baldwin (1 goal, 1assist), Greene (1 goal, 1 assist), Conzone 1 assist and Michalski (1 goal).
